Happy Mother's Day: 5 Healthy Gift Options

Organic Garden Kit

One great gift idea is to get your Mom a start up organic garden kit. Consider the size and location of the garden; a neat little organic garden box is a great idea for indoor gardens. You can make the box yourself (for a bit of that loving child flavor), or pick up pre-made alternatives. A small bag of healthy, organic soil with some organic seeds is just a few weeks or months away from bearing delicious herbs or vegetables! If it's an outdoor garden kit, look at your zone area and plant appropriate seeds for the season.

Yoga Classes or Massage

Don’t forget the mind-body connection! A few free yoga lessons or supplies goes a long way, both for physical and mental well being. Yoga helps promote a sound body and is seen as a great means for effective meditation. Find a good local studio in your city or invite Mom to pick out her favorite supplies! If she is not into yoga, massage is very healing and healthy for the body. Many massage parlors offer mother's day specials or first time client specials.

Organic Tea Sampler

Drink to Motherhood, Drink to Your Health! You don’t want to go overboard with candy for your mom, so why don't you try giving her a tea sampler kit. Find a cute basket, maybe Easter clearance? Fill it with Herbal Papaya tea flavors, a new tea ball, maybe a special mug and you have a wonderful healthy gift basket for mom. Order Tea Here!! Papaya tea is especially healthy for moms of all ages.

Love and Support

Sound cheesy? It may be, but it is also incredibly important. Ditch the Hallmark card and write a letter. Make a phone call, but also make a conscious effort to listen, ask important questions, and offer love and guidance. There’s nothing more important than providing this support.

Organic Flowers

Finally, consider getting Mom some nice organic flowers. These won’t have pesticides on them, so when she goes to smell them she won’t inhale chemicals! They will also be more sustainably grown and harvested. Although flowers die, the sentiment behind them doesn’t have to. Pick up some organic flowers (ie Wildflowers) on your way to the house! It’s a quick fix for anyone who has been jaded about Mother Day! Just remember picking wildflowers equal bugs, do a quick gentle shake before bringing them into the car or house.
Blessings and Happy Mother’s Day!

Mother's Day Recipes

This recipe just looks so papayalicious I had to share.
First you peel, slice in half, core and seed the papaya. Then you slice horizontally until you have a few "boats" perfect for stuffing.
The filling you can use is pudding already made up or stuff with almond jelly.
Here is a pudding and almond jelly recipe below.
Serve and enjoy!

Almond Jelly

Ingredients:
1 cup water
2 (.25 ounce) envelopes unflavored
gelatin powder (or Vegan Plain Gelatin made with Tapioca)
1 cup water
2 cups milk (or rice milk)
3/4 cup organic sugar
1 1/2 teaspoons almond extract ... the real stuff
Directions:
1. Pour 1 cup water in a bowl; sprinkle the gelatin over the water; stir until the gelatin is partially dissolved. Set aside.
2. Bring 1 cup water to a boil in a large saucepan. Reduce heat to medium-low and slowly pour in the gelatin mixture. Add the milk, sugar, and almond extract; stir until the sugar and gelatin are completely dissolved; pour mixture into a large, shallow container. Refrigerate until firm, 3 to 4 hours. Cut into small squares to serve. If you use Vegan Gelatin then it only takes 1 hour or so.

Now put the Almond Jelly into your sliced papaya! Cool and serve later!

Vegan Vanilla Pudding

Serves 4

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups vanilla Almond Milk, Coconut Milk or Rice Milk
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch (non gmo)
  • Papaya

Directions:

  1. In a double boiler, whisk together milk and cornstarch.
  2. Bring mixture to a boil, stirring constantly, and cook until thickened.
  3. Transfer the pudding to single-serving airtight containers and let cool.
  4. Chill in the refrigerator overnight.
  5. Serve pudding into the papaya boats you cut earlier.

The Truth about Fad Diets and How to Safely Lose Weight Without Them
The Truth about Fad Diets and How to Safely Lose Weight Without Them

by Peter Muriithi February 05, 2018 0 Comments

Fad diets are often marketed as the quickest route out of pounds-ville – have you noticed how they tend to change from one year to the next? – and it’s little wonder anyone looking to shed weight fast is always turning to them.

These lose-weight-fast diets could come in different shapes. Juice cleanses. Soup-only diets. The paleo diet. The ketogenic diet. The whole 30; these are all fads. You can also throw intermittent fasting in there.

Most tend to come masked in the “100% money-back guarantee” promise. And why would they not? Fad diets do work. Well, at least they try to! If they promise you will lose 20 pounds within six weeks, chances are you will get within a ballpark of that figure.
